2 races, 2 medals and 2 races cancelled (ish)…
I’ve been doing loads of stuff – have I said that before 😁😁😁
1 x cross country – so unbelievably wet – it’s like the weather ‘gods’ heard the words cross country and turned on their big shower in the sky 🙄 and turned the heating off !!! this was the week before Babet.
However, it was mahooosive fun running around in the torrential rain, through enormous, knee deep puddles and ankle deep, sucky mud that tries to keep your trainers hahahaha I totally loved it. I mean… during the drive down and setting up the tent in that rain, we did all question our sanity and the ‘why’ we were driving for two hours in horrendous conditions, to run for less than 20 minutes, in…horrendous conditions. BUT we did all actually have a great time !! 😁💪
And we got a team medal !!! A very unexpected masters bronze team relay medal 🏅👏 thank you dream team :-)))
There were lots of people I knew and it was so nice to catch up and chat 😁

Next up was the Speyside 10k; the Scottish Trail Championships. I was expecting a small but decent entry. The weather forecast for this was good – oh no wait – the weather forecast for Carnoustie was good. The forecast for Archiestown….I know…. where !?? the other side of Aberdeen – was for torrential rain. I’d arranged to meet up with a friend I hadn’t seen for years – she’s so lovely – her Megan and my Angus were babies and toddlers together and played together – our most treasured memory is of Angus being sick in Megan’s shoes after eating too many Wotsits hahaha. Anyhooooo – her husband was running (a very good runner) and I was really looking forward to seeing them.
The weather forecast was right – lovely sunshine here in Carnoustie, but as I passed Aberdeen it started to rain, and it didn’t stop till I came back past Aberdeen on the way back down the road ! It took 2 and a half hours to get there – a bit of a trek !! The roads and scenery after Aberdeen were really lovey, even in the rain 🙂
The race itself was a point to point which totally confused my poor little brain !! We started off up wide forest trails from Archiestown, with some single track and mud at the top (rainy, windy and cold – I couldn’t feel my hands), then a really nice fast downhill to the Cardhu distillery (a finishers dram for the non-tee-totallers !!) – a really nice course :-))
There were ……see above !!…..lots of people I knew and it was so nice to catch up and chat 😁
I was 5th F, and 2nd FSV 🙂 so I got a silver Scottish Athletics medal :-)) yipppeeeee

This weekend was supposed to be the National Cross Country Relays at Cumbernauld – but Babet had other ideas.
The weather here was really bad – so much rain, flooding, really windy, trees down, roads blocked – really bad. I was actually quite scared driving under the trees on the way home on Friday. There was a red weather warning for us – risk to life !! do not travel !!
I was very nervous about going to Cumbernauld, but cross country is NEVER cancelled, and the weather forecast for Cumbernauld wasn’t as bad as it was for here. However, I was very relieved when DRR decided not to travel – the cross country wasn’t cancelled, but the red weather warning was still in place for here. Probably my only uninjured DNS, but definitely the right time for it !!
The weather actually improved as the day went on, so I had a good run later on in the afternoon – so its all good :-))
Next weekend was supposed to be the Dundee Uni Aquathlon, but building works won’t be finished in time – but it hasn’t been cancelled – just postponed :-))
So my planned 5 races in 5 weekends has turned into 2 with a few weekends ‘rest’ in between. Next is the Templeton 10 – I’ve been practising my 10 milers so I’m quite looking forward to it (at the moment – ask me on the morning of the race and I’m pretty sure you’ll get a different answer !!).
Also, I’ve set up my turbo trainer for the bike and I’ve been immersing myself in virtual cycling worlds !! its so cool – and I’ve been enjoying it waaaay more than I though I would (CHRIISSS I’M CYCLING UNDER THE WATER IN A TUNNEL – I CAN SEE FISH !!!! HAHAHAHA).
OH….YEH….AAAAAAAAAAND….GUESS..WHO’S BACK……!!!! and staying for Chriiiiiistmas – yeeeehhaaaa :-))) he surprised us – got us good !!!! there were lots of tears :-))))))))) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
