It’s definitely chickpeas (and other legumes !!).
So, with ongoing stomach issues – particularly during and after running, but with the potential to happen at any time, I’ve been trying to see if there are any specific foods that are triggering the issues.
I had noticed that running in the evening was definitely risky !! and I alway have to plan my routes with potential toilet stops.
I pretty much always have soup, crisps and bread for my lunch, so my immediate thought was ‘soup’ – it’s…well…it’s a liquid – so I’m thinking very literally – liquid in – liquid out – sorry I know – too much information !!! The other thought I had was that it’s always spicy soup I have, so maybe my stomach has developed a sensitivity to spicy food. This was kind of upsetting because my favourite meal is a good curry.
So…I stopped eating soup for my lunch….and things were much better !!
Then – after a couple of good weeks – I had a curry !! AAND had no issues !!! Yeeehaaa. So it’s not spicy food that does it.
So, back to the spicy soup ??? The soups that I usually have – spicy Moroccan chickpea and chicken, lentil Dahl, spicy tomato and lentil and Jerk chicken (which has turtle beans in it!!) – yep !!
After another good week off the soup !! I tried the final part of the experiment !! I had the spicy Moroccan chickpea and chicken soup……theory confirmed !!!! It’s definitely chickpeas
After everything it’s been through, I think my stomach is a bit sensitive !!
And after consulting Dr. Google, legumes seem a likely culprit. And I’m happy to cut them out and keep eating the curries :-))) I can live without hummus.
The experiment is ongoing re. peas, sweetcorn, peanuts etc !!
In more exciting news, I did my first ever sea swim triathlon :-)) I was really excited and also really nervous – more nervous than normal because I’ve felt sea sick after my practice swims in the sea at Carnoustie !! However, I’m now feeling smug, because I took seasick pills !! and didn’t feel sick 😁😁👍 I actually loved the swim – it was pretty rough but the water was clear and beautiful and not cold 😁 I swam pretty well, really enjoyed the cycle (not enough effort ?!?) and ran ok – 3rd female 😁💪

I also did the Forfar duathlon – run then bike, m with some lovely people 😁❤️😁❤️

And a decent parkrun at Arbroath 😁🏃♀️ also with some lovely people :-)))

Talking of lovely people, the boys have been busy 😁😁❤️❤️❤️

And I’ve had more Herceptin and Pertuzumab sessions 🙃
